Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob launched the Malaysian Family Sale which is held in all 222 parliamentary constituencies twice a month starting Saturday until February 2022 as part of efforts to provide cheaper goods amid the rising cost of living.
The Malaysian Family Sale offers a variety of basic goods at prices up to 50 percent lower than the market rate.
Ismail Sabri said the program especially prioritises B40 and M40 areas as Malaysians in these income brackets have been hardest hit financially during the pandemic.
He said, in this program, which is a joint initiative involving various agencies and private companies, prices of goods such as chicken, fish, vegetables and dried goods are offered lower than the market price.
Although the majority of sellers are offering a rate of between 20 percent and 30 percent there are also those who are selling at a cheaper rate of 50 percent of the market price.
However, the Malaysian Family Sale would go on beyond the month of February 2022 if the prices of goods still do not come down by that time.
