IMMERSE KL x CelcomDigi 2025, a flagship programme by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), successfully achieved over RM1 million in tech opportunities generated by participating companies.
The two-day event, held in collaboration with CelcomDigi, welcomed 555 attendees from Malaysia and internationally, further strengthened the nation’s role as a growing hub for immersive technology in the region.
Throughout the event, 32 exhibitors and 25 speakers showcased the latest in extended reality (XR), virtual production, immersive storytelling, and creative content. Exhibitors such as CelcomDigi, FreeDome, Experiential Design Team (EDT), Revenant Reverie, and FaBu Designs presented hands-on demonstrations, while students and independent creators added fresh perspectives to the showcase.
A key milestone was the launch of the International Interactive & Immersive Society (i3S), Malaysia’s first dedicated immersive technology association. The association aims to support the growth of immersive technologies in Malaysia, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (MR), extended reality (XR), virtual production, simulators, and AV hardware. Its focus areas include strengthening collaboration across the ecosystem, developing skilled talent, enabling commercialisation, and contributing to policy development.
The event also marked the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Monolith Technologies and Virtualtech Frontier (VTF). The strategic partnership focuses on developing new XR experiences that align with Malaysia’s digital economy goals.
In addition, a Strategic Roundtable with Meta Reality Labs brought together key voices from government, academia, and industry. Organisations such as MTVET, TalentCorp, and several local universities joined the discussion on how immersive technology can support education, skills development, and workforce readiness.
The Matchworks Business Matching Programme also recorded strong interest. A total of 17 Malaysian solution providers engaged with 43 SMEs and corporates to explore business opportunities in marketing, operations, and customer experience.
“IMMERSE KL x CelcomDigi 2025 reaffirms Malaysia’s position as a rising powerhouse in immersive technologies within the region,” said Anuar Fariz Fadzil, Chief Executive Officer of MDEC.
“By launching the nation’s first immersive technology association and cultivating strategic partnerships, we are demonstrating how innovation, talent development and global collaboration can further move the digital economy forward.
“MDEC remains fully committed to supporting platforms that advance technological breakthroughs, develop skilled talent and strengthen industry collaboration, hence ensuring that our creative tech sector continues to lead in XR, AR, VR and beyond,” he added.
