As it enters the new year of 2021, the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC) will continue to focus on improving its processes and delivery system in its quest to further enhance performance of Malaysia’s SME sector and empower small businesses and informal businesses, enabling them to adapt to the post Covid-19 new norm.
Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said although he is happy with the overall performance of MEDAC and its agencies in 2020, there is still room for more improvements, particularly in simplifying processes and reducing red tapes.
“When I was appointed as MEDAC minister earlier in 2020, my main agenda was to simplify process and reduce bureaucracy issues.
“That is why this ministry was able to disburse 99.3 percent of the 2020 budget allocation. This is indeed a proud achievement for MEDAC and its agencies,” he said in a statement.
For the year 2021, he said the ministry and its agencies will continue to focus on improving its delivery system and processes so that all types of assistance, facilities and incentives can be channelled more efficiently to entrepreneurs.
“For this purpose, I hope my team in MEDAC, and our agencies, will give their full commitment in helping entrepreneurs. In fulfilling our responsibilities to the people, I always advise my officers to walk the extra mile, make the extra effort.
“We need to be prepared to make appropriate changes based on current circumstances and needs. We must be willing to change, to improve, simplify and streamline the processes in the ministry and agencies, to be more effective, efficient and customer friendly.
“We need to be closer to the people so that we understand their situation and can help them,” he said in his new year message video posted on his Facebook and Instagram.
