Recently Koperasi Pendidikan Swasta Malaysia Berhad (Private Education Cooperative of Malaysia or Educoop) signed an MOU with WorldEx Trade Media Group to promote TVET related programmes and activities in Malaysia.

The continued focus and importance placed on Technical and Vocational Education and Training or TVET could not have come at a better time as the Malaysian Government, through the Malaysian Education Blueprint (2015 โ€“ 2025), is actively promoting TVET as the educational pathway of choice among Malaysians. Malaysia would need a 2.5-fold increase in TVET enrolment by 2025.

Through the collaboration of Educoop and WorldEx, Malaysians both public and institutions can expect to participate in TVET fairs nationwide. One of the exhibitions or fairs in the pipeline is scheduled to be held from 28-30 September 2018 at Viva Home Shopping Mall in Kuala Lumpur.

This upcoming fair serves as a bridge and dynamic platform to bring various institutions of learning, school leavers and those who are keen to upskill themselves as well as employers into an environment of active beneficial engagement. During the fair, participating colleges, universities and other learning institutions, and employers will have a good opportunity to promote their programmes, organisations, job opportunities and career paths to the target visitors to the fair.

Educoop and WorldEx will also undertake TVET related career fairs, seminars and networking programmes. This was finalized during the signing of the said MOU between Educoop represented by Surendran Elangoven (Board member of Educoop) and Datoโ€™ Jerel Soo, CEO of WorldEX, in the presence of Datoโ€™ R. Rajendran, Chairman of Educoop.

The primary objective of Kopersai Pendidikan Swasta Malaysia Berhad is to be an influential voice and force in the nation and leading Malaysian private education co-operative committed to serving its members and thus enabling them to attain increased income and savings, investments, productivity, and purchasing power.

WorldEx Trade Media Group is a Malaysian professional operator of events with over 10 years of experience in organizing trade events for various industries such as Oil & Gas, Marine & Offshore, Palm Oil, Agriculture, Property, Education, Medical, Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery Equipment, Water & Wastewater and Industrial Machinery exhibitions. ย

The Technical and Vocational Education Division, Ministry of Education Malaysia together with some multinationals will also participate at the September 2018 fair. ย

At one event recently, Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik said that the Education Ministry will strive towards upholding Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as students’ first choice of education in five years. ย He also said TVET was one of the necessary and crucial elements which formed the foundation in building a highly-skilled society to strengthen the country’s potential for future growth.

According to Dr Maszlee, TVET empowers every level of society towards equitable development, towards poverty reduction and towards economic prosperity.
