Press Metal in expansion mode

Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd is expanding its extrusion plant in Klang, Selangor, by installing an additional capacity of 30,000 tonnes per annum for the plant towards the fabrication of solar frames.

It is set to commence operation by the second half of this year. The plant currently has an annual production capacity of 50,000 tonnes and with their second plant in Foshan, China their combined capacity makes them a prominent producer.

Their combined capacity of 210,000 tonnes per annum involves a wide range of extrusion products utilised in the construction, automobile, consumer related products, electronic and electrical industries.

Press Metal stated that they are also continuously exploring new markets for its extrusion products and researching potential segments relating to renewable energy, other applications in the automotive industry and technical resource planning.

The primary markets for their products are China (31 percent), Malaysia (19 percent), the United Kingdom (19 percent), the United States (19 percent) and Australia (6 percent) and through its trading arm Press Metal also markets internationally.

Press Metal noted that with a relatively low visible world inventory of aluminium, any demand recovery led by influential economies will underpin a strong price performance as the scarcity of renewable energy and high cost will affect sustainability.
