SIBS 2025 draws global attention with major business and green economy push

The Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2025 has officially kicked off at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, welcoming over 700 exhibitors and anticipating more than 50,000 visitors throughout its four-day run.

The summit was officiated by His Royal Highness Tengku Amir Shah, Crown Prince of Selangor, alongside Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari. Their presence highlights the state’s commitment to positioning Selangor as a regional hub for investment, trade and innovation.

Several major announcements marked the opening, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between subsidiaries of Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers. This collaboration aims to advance initiatives in water reclamation, energy transition, and smart manufacturing by leveraging both parties’ expertise.

One of the summit’s key highlights was the launch of the Selangor Agenda for Green Economy (SAGE), a 10-year strategic plan to drive sustainable development. SAGE targets carbon neutrality by 2050, a 35 percent clean-energy mix, and up to RM63 billion in green investments by 2035. It is built around four energy categories and focuses on innovation, resilience, and equitable transition.

In a move to further improve the business climate, Selangor introduced SPEED Selangor, a policy designed to accelerate development approvals. It consolidates existing fast-track systems into a single process, aiming to cut approval times from over three months to just nine days. An Industrial Green Lane and a new project monitoring system will support transparency, licensing, and delivery timelines.

SIBS 2025 features six flagship events, including the debut of the Selangor Aerospace Summit and the return of the ASEAN Business Conference, which gathers over 800 leaders to discuss sustainability and economic integration in the region.

Organised by Invest Selangor and backed by the state government, the summit continues to attract global participation across industries such as F&B, digital economy, care economy and aerospace.
