Tourism Malaysia continues with its second roadshow to India this year, together with the Malaysia Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) across four cities from 17th to 24 August 2022. The roadshow kicks off in the city of Visakhapatnam, followed by Kolkata, Kochi and Thiruchirapppalli.
The mission is headed by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Seri Dr. Santhara Kumar, together with Malaysiaโs tourism fraternity which consists of one Malaysia-based airline, 16 travel agents, two hoteliers and one state government agency.
Since the reopening of Malaysiaโs international borders on 1st April 2022, Tourism Malaysia initiated its first roadshow to six major cities in India from 18th to 30th April, followed by its participation in this yearโs South Asia Travel & Tourism Exchange (SATTE) from 18th to 20th May.
India remains and has been one of the top market sources for Malaysia and has contributed 735,309 arrivals (over 22 per cent) in 2019.
Apart from its objective to instil confidence among Indians to feel safe to visit Malaysia once again, the roadshow aims to provide a platform for the industry community to steer the tourism sector and return even stronger.
โThis is the right time to be back in India, and planning for this roadshow is very opportune. The resumption of scheduled international flights from India coincides with the reopening of Malaysiaโs international borders. We are very thrilled to welcome Indian travellers once again to our humble abode,โ he said.
Currently, Malaysian eVISA can be applied online and more than 14,000 seats are offered weekly between India and Malaysia through Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, AirAsia, IndiGo, and Air India Express.
