Dunlop strengthens Malaysia presence with EV-ready tyres at Autoshow 2026

Dunlop is embarking on a renewed phase of growth in Malaysia following the appointment of Toyotsu Binter Malaysia Sdn Bhd (TBM) as its exclusive distributor, with the brand’s refreshed direction unveiled at the Malaysia Autoshow 2026.

The development marks a strategic move to reinforce Dunlop’s position in the local market through enhanced distribution capabilities, broader dealer engagement and a revitalised product portfolio catering to both conventional and electric vehicles (EVs).

With a legacy in Malaysia dating back to the 1960s, Dunlop continues to build on its long-standing reputation while adapting to evolving mobility trends. The latest initiative integrates global product strategies with regional expertise, supported by TBM’s experience across ASEAN markets.

As part of its showcase, Dunlop introduced the Blue Response TG, a passenger car tyre engineered to enhance ride comfort, improve handling stability and reduce rolling resistance and cabin noise—features increasingly important for electrified vehicles.

TBM Managing Director Marcus Lim said the transition reflects a strengthened commitment to the Malaysian market.

“This marks a significant milestone for Dunlop locally. Our priority is to ensure consistent supply, expand our dealer network and bring advanced tyre technologies to Malaysian motorists, particularly as the market shifts towards electrified mobility,” he said.

Currently, TBM collaborates with over 190 authorised wholesalers, trade partners and dealers nationwide, primarily in Peninsular Malaysia, with plans to further expand coverage over the next two years.

The company is also strengthening Dunlop’s presence in both replacement and original equipment (OEM) segments, including fitment on selected models from major automotive brands across conventional and electric platforms.

Meanwhile, the growing adoption of EVs in Malaysia – now accounting for roughly one in every 14 new vehicle registrations – has prompted Dunlop to expand its EV-compatible tyre range. These include models designed to address higher vehicle weight, instant torque and reduced cabin noise.

Looking ahead, the introduction of new EV-focused products is expected to further enhance Dunlop’s offerings, positioning the brand as a key player in supporting Malaysia’s transition towards sustainable mobility.
