Scoot adds Belitung and Pontianak to network, boosts regional connectivity

Scoot, the low-cost arm of Singapore Airlines, is set to strengthen its regional network with the introduction of new routes to Belitung and Pontianak in Indonesia, alongside increased flight frequencies across several destinations.

In a statement today, the airline announced that services to Belitung will begin on May 3, 2026, operating twice weekly, while flights to Pontianak will commence on June 29, 2026, with three weekly services. Both routes will be operated using the Embraer E190-E2 aircraft.

Belitung, located off the eastern coast of Sumatra, is known for its pristine beaches, striking granite rock formations and rich biodiversity, making it an emerging leisure destination. Pontianak, the capital of West Kalimantan, sits on the equator and is recognised for its cultural diversity and culinary offerings, as well as the iconic Equator Monument.

With the addition of these two destinations, Scoot’s network will expand to 85 destinations across 18 countries and territories.

Travellers from Malaysia can access the new routes via Singapore Changi Airport, with one-way Economy Class fares starting from RM219 to Belitung and RM309 to Pontianak, inclusive of taxes. Bookings are now open through Scoot’s website and mobile application.

Chief Executive Officer Leslie Thng said the expansion reinforces the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity within the region.

“The addition of these routes not only broadens our presence in Indonesia but also strengthens connectivity through Singapore. At the same time, increased flight frequencies will help meet rising travel demand, particularly during the upcoming school holiday period,” he said.

In tandem with the network expansion, Scoot will progressively increase flight frequencies to several destinations starting April 2026. Services to Phuket will rise to 21 weekly flights, while Sibu will see an increase to four weekly services.

From June, flights to Bali and Jakarta will be boosted to 35 times weekly. Frequencies to Labuan Bajo, Lombok and Manado will also be expanded, with Manado set to receive daily flights.

In North Asia, services to Okinawa and Changsha will be increased, while in Europe, flights to Vienna will rise to four times weekly beginning June.

All flights will transit via Singapore Changi Airport and remain subject to regulatory approvals.
