Telecommunications provider Yes today launched Malaysia’s first-ever 5G Advanced prepaid offering, marking a major milestone in the country’s journey towards wider adoption of next-generation mobile connectivity.
The newly introduced Yes 5G Advanced Starter Pack, priced at RM10, is positioned as the most affordable entry point into 5G Advanced technology in Malaysia.
The starter pack offers 20GB of high-speed data, uncapped speeds and 30 days validity, which Yes said is the longest validity period among all prepaid plans within the same price range.
With this launch, Yes becomes the first telco in Malaysia to offer 5G Advanced technology on a prepaid basis, expanding access to premium mobile connectivity beyond postpaid and broadband subscribers.
Chief Executive Officer of YTL Communications, Wing K. Lee, said the move reflects the company’s commitment to ensuring all Malaysians can benefit from the latest advancements in mobile technology.
“When we first introduced 5G Advanced in October, all our postpaid and broadband customers were upgraded at no extra cost. Today, we are extending this same world-class technology to prepaid customers,” he said.
Lee said the RM10 starter pack removes cost barriers for users who rely heavily on mobile connectivity for streaming, gaming and digital creation, while supporting Malaysia’s aspiration to become an AI-ready digital nation.
The prepaid launch follows the successful nationwide rollout of Yes 5G Advanced, which initially debuted in the Klang Valley.
The enhanced network now covers 82.4 per cent of populated areas nationwide, reinforcing Yes’ leadership in 5G deployment and placing Malaysia among the top 10 countries globally to adopt the pre-6G standard.
Yes said the upgraded network delivers stronger indoor penetration, broader outdoor coverage and higher throughput for both downloads and uploads.
These improvements support high-definition audio and video streaming, low-latency gaming, more reliable connectivity in high-traffic areas, and AI-ready performance for latency-sensitive applications.
In conjunction with the product launch, Yes will roll out a nationwide campaign titled ‘Generasi Advanced’, highlighting how 5G Advanced enables high-definition music streaming, smoother gaming experiences and superior streaming quality for content creators.
All existing Yes prepaid customers have already been automatically upgraded to 5G Advanced at no additional cost, making Yes the only telco in Malaysia to deliver this technology by default across postpaid, prepaid and broadband segments.
The Yes 5G Advanced Starter Pack is available through Yes Stores and authorised dealers, the Yes website, MyYes app, Yes Official Store on Shopee, Yes Store on TikTok Shop, as well as selected MyNews and CU convenience stores beginning Dec 22.
Users will require a 5G Advanced-compatible device to fully experience the service.
