Global information and communication technology solutions provider ZTE Corporation showcased a range of artificial intelligence (AI), digital utility and intelligent connectivity technologies at the TNB Energy Transition Conference, underscoring the growing role of digitalisation in supporting the future of the energy sector.
The company presented six technology pillars aimed at enhancing utility digitalisation, grid modernisation and intelligent energy management, in line with Malaysia’s aspirations to accelerate its energy transition agenda.
Among the solutions featured were digital utility platforms designed to strengthen smart grid communications, AI-powered systems that improve operational intelligence and predictive capabilities, and integrated connectivity technologies that support secure and reliable communications across utility networks.
ZTE also demonstrated next-generation optical transport networks capable of delivering high-capacity and resilient backbone connectivity, as well as smart energy technologies that utilise AI to support energy optimisation, forecasting and sustainability initiatives.
Managing Director of ZTE Malaysia, Liu Bang, said intelligent digital infrastructure would play a critical role in enabling utilities to operate more efficiently while strengthening grid reliability and visibility.
He said the company remained committed to contributing technological expertise and innovation through its collaboration with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and other industry stakeholders.
According to ZTE, technology validation and assessment activities conducted in collaboration with TNB on selected smart metering communication solutions have generated valuable insights into the performance and suitability of such technologies within utility operating environments.
The findings further highlighted the increasing importance of advanced communication systems in supporting smart metering deployments and wider grid digitalisation efforts.
ZTE said the technologies showcased could support utility initiatives such as real-time network monitoring, improved operational efficiency and more intelligent management of energy infrastructure.
As Malaysia advances the objectives outlined under the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), the company believes digital utility technologies will become increasingly important in enabling accurate metering, enhancing operational transparency and improving energy efficiency.
The solutions are also expected to contribute to future smart energy applications, including rooftop solar integration, electric vehicle charging optimisation and demand-side energy management for residential and commercial users.
In addition to its enterprise solutions, ZTE showcased several of its latest consumer devices, including gaming-focused smartphones under its nubia and REDMAGIC brands, reflecting the company’s continued emphasis on innovation across both infrastructure and consumer technology segments.
