Tron Bradbury Energy (M) Sdn Bhd (TBE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with asset managers Bradbury Asset Management (Hong Kong) Ltd to establish a regional Electric Vehicle (EV) hub in Malaysia.
The hub, which will be located in Malaysia Vision Valley, will upgrade its capacity from EV assembly operations to include full scale manufacturing and distribution capacities and cutting edge Research & Development.
While the initial launch of TBE’s first EV assembly plant took place recently at the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ), industry sources are finding it surprising that the hub is set to generate an estimated revenue of more than RM2 billion annually.
But TBE officials are optimistic that their venture holds a promising future for them as they plan to focus on commercial EVs and energy storage systems and by transforming the assembly operations at the PKFZ into a dedicated manufacturing facility.
Besides this, TBE also has plans to set up a battery R&D facility in Malaysia and these two plants will mark a significant step forward in bringing opportunities to Malaysians especially Small and Medium Enterprises or SMEs.
Statistics indicate a significant upward trend in EV demand last year with the sales of Battery Electric Vehicles or BEVs rising by more than 200 percent year on year to over 10,000 BEV units sold compared to about 3,000 units in 2022.
